Synopsis

This course examines the cross-functional drivers of supply chain performance – sourcing, information and pricing. We look at outsourcing decisions in a supply chain and consider the associated benefits and risks. We focus on the role and importance of IT to the success of a supply chain. We discuss the application of pricing and revenue management in maximising supply chain profits. We focus on the problems associated with the lack of coordination on a supply chain due to the bullwhip effect, which results in higher costs throughout the supply chain and degradation of customer service level. We look at the importance of benchmarking for improving supply chain performance and introduce the Supply Chain Operations Reference (SCOR) approach to benchmarking and best practice implementation.
