Reasoning like a Sceptic (SCO111)

Synopsis

This course teaches the basic elements of sound reasoning using the news and fake news as practice material. Students learn what an argument is, how to identify arguments and how to evaluate arguments in news passages. Students also learn to adopt a reasonable sceptical stance towards intuitively plausible arguments that are commonly found in psychology, economics, sociology, and which are commonly cited in the news.
