In your final year of study, you will be required to attend and complete a Legal Clerkship Programme that will provide structured training in the application of legal and professional knowledge in real-life situations. Both degrees are recognised under the Legal Profession Act, and as long as you graduate with a cGPA of 3.5, you will become a 'qualified person' under the Legal Profession Act and shall be eligible to sit for Part B of the Bar Examinations.

The curriculum will be modular and credit-based. For students without a first degree, they will be required to complete 180 credit units to graduate from the LLB programme; for students with a first degree, they will be required to complete 150 credit units to graduate from the JD programme. The LLB programme can be completed in 4.5 to 6 years, and the JD programme can be completed in 4 to 6 years.

Programmes

The School of Law (SLAW) focuses on the training and development of lawyers specialising in the highly demanded areas of criminal law and family law. Our programmes adopt a pedagogical approach that emphasises problem-solving by combining the learning of substantive law with application. Together with exposure to cross-disciplinary areas, our graduates will be prepared to face criminal and family legal work that have become increasingly specialised over time.
