The 9th edition of the Venture Builder Programme saw 32 participants embark on a transformative three-month journey. This intensive programme propelled these participants from the initial ideation phase of their business concepts to the development of their Minimum Viable Products (MVPs). Along the way, participants not only witnessed substantial personal growth but also cultivated invaluable connections with fellow entrepreneurs.

The highlight of this journey was the highly anticipated Venture Builder Demo Day 2023 which took place on 12 September 2023. It marked the culmination of their efforts and represented an opportunity to showcase their entrepreneurial visions to a wider audience.

Prior to the main Demo Day event, all teams were given an opportunity to pitch at an internal Demo Day. During this internal event, all teams presented their ventures to a panel of judges, including trainers and mentors from The Singapore Centre for Social Enterprise (raiSE), as well as Rayner Loi, an alumnus of the Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Entrepreneurship Programme. From the pool of 29 participating teams, the top eight were chosen to advance and showcase their ideas at the Venture Builder Demo Day 2023. After an intense pitching session among the teams, the top three teams emerged.

Taking home third place was Png Wee Kai, the founder of NavSocial. NavSocial's mission revolves around empowering marginalised communities by providing them with the tools to assess, map, and leverage their unique skills and competencies.

Securing second place was Iman B. Jumahat, the founder of Reco Buddy. Reco Buddy is on a mission to reshape the fashion industry through an innovative online resale marketplace, contributing to sustainability and ethical fashion practices.

Coming in first place as the winner of the SUSS Venture Builder Demo Day 2023 was Dennis Ooi, founder of the National Esports Academy. The academy's mission is to create a world-class talent development institution for esports by combining technical training with character development, ensuring that future professionals in the esports industry are well-prepared for the challenges ahead.

Dennis offers a valuable piece of advice to prospective students: "Whether you're a full-time or part-time student, it's crucial to engage in a meaningful business venture that aligns with your current life goals."
