Excitement filled the air as start-ups propelled themselves towards success at the highly anticipated Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Demo Day 2023! Held at SUSS, this annual pitch event showcased ideas developed by eight ambitious start-ups from the Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Entrepreneurship Programme with an attractive USD $10,000 worth of prizes to be won.
The Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Demo Day kicked off with an opening address by Mr Ken Xu, Senior Solution Architect at Alibaba Cloud Intelligence Singapore. He highlighted that the Demo Day would serve as a remarkable opportunity for entrepreneurs to showcase their inventive ideas and solutions to a larger audience. Mr Xu expressed his enthusiasm about leveraging this programme to connect with more start-ups, raise awareness of Alibaba Cloud and foster a robust entrepreneurship ecosystem.

After an intense pitching session at the event by the eight participating start-ups, we would like to congratulate Joleen Seam of Fertwerck for emerging as the winner! Fertwerck is a start-up that develops earth-friendly, effective, affordable, and easy-to-use fertilisers. Joleen shared that she was grateful for the opportunity and reflected on her experience, “I would like to really thank SUSS for creating Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Entrepreneurship Programme as it helped students like me to further understand what entrepreneurship is all about.”

Securing the 1st runner-up position and USD $5,000 worth of Alibaba Cloud credits and prizes were Wan Jie Jun Alphonsus, Tan Min Hui and Tan Ray Shuen of Playnium Pte Ltd, an on-demand live streaming platform offering interactive edutainment content and classes for children aged two to seven years old. Their impressive performance during the competition and their idea to adapt content to the specific learning needs of a child has positioned them as a game-changer in the education and entertainment industry.

Not to be outdone, the 2nd runner-up position, who took home USD $2,000 worth of Alibaba Cloud credits was claimed by Muzdalifah Anuar of POPWOW Space Pte Ltd, which empowers women to have active lifestyles by providing fitness solutions as well as a safe and secure space to harness their full potential. She left a lasting impression in her compelling pitch where she shared her vision of building a community of resilient women that creates positive impact to the society.
