During the session, Professor Tan Tai Yong shared his vision for SUSS and expressed his views on how DBAC can help strengthen connections between the university and the industry. He highlighted that while traditional universities primarily focus on isolated knowledge creation, SUSS can tap into more opportunities to create more industry-relevant knowledge.

He likened SUSS to a "start-up" and emphasised that as a young institution, it provides more flexible and experimental opportunities for both the faculty and students. President Tan Tai Yong believed that DBAC is a unique community that can bring tremendous value to SUSS through sharing industry knowledge and experiences, mentoring students and startups, and participating in teaching. Furthermore, he suggested that DBAC can facilitate the establishment of an industry network ecosystem, providing academic and career development opportunities for SUSS students and alumni.

President Tan Tai Yong also encouraged the organisation of more offline networking events to foster the establishment of a professional network and provide more opportunities for mutual learning among faculty, students, and alumni.
