On 10 January 2024, the Public Safety and Security (PSS) community kickstarted the semester with a lively and energetic "Back to School Bash" event! Attended by 40 PSS students and five exchange students from Rabdan Academy, this fun-filled event brought together students for an afternoon of laughter, friendly competition, and team spirit.

The bash welcomed participants with an engaging mix of icebreaker activities and brain teasers. A game of Blindfold saw participants on their feet, while a New Year's Resolution guessing game provided insights into the students’ aspirations. The energy then picked up during a lively drawing relay, blending artistic skills and rapid thinking to produce creative and comical masterpieces.

Inspired by the spirit of friendly competition, the bash transformed into a campus-wide scavenger hunt. Divided into teams, participants raced across the campus, following cryptic riddles and tackling station games. From push-up challenges to puzzles, each stop tested individual skills, teamwork, and communication.

Chong Pei Yee, a Year 2 PSS student participant, recounted, “The event was engaging and allowed me to mingle with my peers and the exchange students from Rabdan Academy. I thoroughly enjoyed myself and had fun before the new semester started!"

Amanda Poon Yi Ling, a Year 1 PSS student from the planning committee, reflected, “It was the first event I planned as part of the IG, and I'm glad most people enjoyed themselves! I hope the event helped PSS students from different batches connect, and that the semester exchange students from Rabdan Academy managed to get a glimpse of student life in SUSS and familiarised themselves with our campus through the scavenger hunt!"

The PSS Interest Group's Back to School Bash proved to be a resounding success, reminding us that learning, and connection can be equally rewarding when infused with a healthy dose of fun and competition. New friendships were forged, old bonds were strengthened, and everyone left with a renewed excitement for the semester ahead.
