SUSS Team Claims 2nd Runner-Up at Stock Pitch Competition

Congratulations to the SUSS team Cecil Street Capital (CSC), comprising students from SUSS' Bachelor of Science in Business Analytics and SUSS' Bachelor of Science in Finance degrees, Ezekiel Woo, Timothy Hoon, Sadayan Izzuddin and Khor Chen Yang, for emerging as 2nd runner-up at the Point72 x Nanyang Capital Stock Pitch Competition 2023!

The competition organised by NTU Nanyang Capital provides participants with the opportunity to experience being a buy-side analyst and hone their equity research and stock pitching skills. Team CSC was one of the six teams that were eventually shortlisted to pitch their stock ideas to panellists, which included representatives from Point72.

The team pitched an astute BUY recommendation for Studio Dragon (KOSDAQ: 253450), a South Korean drama production company, with their theses focused on the firm’s defensible Intellectual Property shows and cost efficiencies.

Reflecting on the pitch competition and their achievement, Ezekiel shared, “The team had represented SUSS in the 2023 Chartered Financial Analyst Institute Research Challenge earlier in February, so we saw this as an opportunity to apply our learnings and sharpen our skills. The CFA competition helped us to think of businesses with clarity, and focus beyond just forecasted numbers and intrinsic values. Having to juggle internships, the various case competitions, school and other commitments these past few months have been intense for the members of Team CSC, so having grit and working well as a team were the keys to our success.”

Well done, Team CSC!
