Welcome to S R Nathan School of Human Development (NSHD)

S R Nathan School of Human Development

Transforming Lives, Serving Society.

The S R Nathan School of Human Development (NSHD) was established on 22nd February 2018, renamed from School of Human Development and Social Services (HDSS). NSHD’s vision of Transforming Lives, Serving Society is a tribute to the late Mr S R Nathan who was Singapore’s sixth president and was an advocate for social and community causes during his distinguished career in public service and the national labour movement. Mr Nathan was also served as the Patron of SUSS (2006-2011) and was a strong advocate for the university's focus on lifelong learning.

NSHD offers a wide range of programmes that covers many aspects of human development throughout our lifespan. These courses include Early Childhood Education, Gerontology, Counselling, Social Work, and Human Resource Management, and are offered as undergraduate and postgraduate programmes as well Continuing Education & Training (CET) and SkillsFuture courses. We also focus on research with an aim of influencing policies and improving practice in the academic disciplines we offer. As an extension of our academic work, we are also involved in applied projects in our community. Additionally, our academic and admin colleagues regularly organise and participate in community outreach programmes.
