Synopsis
CTI388 Independent Translation and Interpreting Project aims to promote service learning and independent study. The course is designed to enable students to apply translation and interpreting skills acquired to a real-life project. Students are required to work on a real-life translation or interpreting project with the supervision of an instructor. The projects can be assigned by the course team or sourced by the students, subject to approval. Translation projects may include, but are not limited to, activities such as translating books, product brochures, user guides, prospectus, annual reports and slides, and localising websites, video games, films, TV commercials and documentaries. Interpreting projects may include, but are not limited to, activities such as interpreting at public forums, conferences, seminars, workshops, community events and company functions in either consecutive or simultaneous interpreting mode. At the end of the project, students must submit a summary report, a user feedback form and translated materials or video recordings of the interpreting performance.

E-Learning: BLENDED - Learning is done MAINLY online using interactive study materials in Canvas. Students receive guidance and support from online instructors via discussion forums and emails. This is supplemented with SOME face-to-face sessions. If the course has an exam component, this will be administered on-campus.
