Synopsis

BSE258 Teaching of Physical Education and Sports focuses on foundational knowledge and skills of teaching and its application in the teaching of physical education and sports. It includes planning lessons/activities, content development, lesson organisation, management and evaluation, task presentation, creating and maintaining a safe learning environment, and assessment. The course also introduces/highlights several pedagogical framework/approaches, supported by research and practices in the teaching of physical education and sports, to enhance teachers/instructors' understanding and application of its principles to better plan for and adapt to different teaching and learning contexts. Course format includes lectures, discussions, practical and/or microteaching experiences.

  • Develop skills for presenting tasks, questionin, providing feedback and/or maintaing a safe learning environment.
  • Apply pedagogical frameworks/approaches and its principles for designing tasks/activities to meet different objectives and needs in the teaching of games/sports.
  • Examine the content, organisation and/or presentation of own/peer's teaching.
