This workshop is designed to equip participants with the necessary skills and knowledge to redesign their assessment strategies in response to the affordances and challenges presented by the generative AI technologies. Participants will be guided through the Design Thinking approach to examine the impact of generative AI on conventional assessment methods, learn innovative assessment strategies to maintain academic integrity, and develop assessment that is fit for purpose and aligned with the intended learning outcomes by applying the Against, Avoid and Adapt (AAA) principle. The relationship between academic dishonesty and use of generative AI will be discussed. Participants will also be presented with some use cases of generative AI in learning, teaching and assessment.
At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
- critique how learning can be reframed in the era of generative AI
- discuss the relationship between academic dishonesty and use of generative AI
- apply the AAA principle to redesign an assessment that is aligned with the intended learning outcomes through the Design Thinking approach
- explore use cases of generative AI in learning, teaching and assessment
