Synopsis

Synchronous hybrid learning (SHL) provides students with the flexibility to choose whether to attend seminars synchronously online or face-to-face. This 3-hour interactive workshop will provide instructors with the skills and knowledge to facilitate SHL in the SUSS HyFlex classrooms. Successful SHL environments are underpinned by the principles of equal access, participation opportunities, and presence for all learners. During the workshop, participants will engage in role plays to gain hands-on experience with the enabling technologies and discuss potential issues and strategies to enhance student learning outcomes in the SHL environment.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of the workshop, participants should be able to:
  1. Demonstrate an understanding of the principles of SHL.
  2. Design engaging and interactive learning experiences for both in-person and online students.
  3. Effectively utilise technological tools to facilitate learning aligned to SHL principles.
  4. Brainstorm strategies for potential issues that may arise during SHL sessions.
  5. Use available resources (e.g., technical support, lesson plan template) to conduct a successful SHL session.
