A highlight of my experience was dining with Mr. Mohamed Faizal, SC (now Judicial Commissioner), a supporter of the SLAW Daya Award. His belief that such recognition can open career opportunities resonated with me, bringing a sense of pride not only to myself but also to my family, who have made sacrifices to support my aspirations.
I also had the privilege of representing the SUSS School of Law as Captain in the Chief Justice’s Cup in 2023 and 2024. This annual futsal tournament, organised by the Singapore Academy of Law, supports the Yellow Ribbon Fund STAR bursary, and being part of it allowed me to contribute beyond the classroom.
The SUSS law students are a unique community, driven by a genuine sense of purpose to help others.
Our cohort includes individuals from diverse backgrounds – teachers, healthcare workers, ex-convicts, and more. Their life experiences bring richness to our discussions, and the networking opportunities are invaluable.
SUSS’ applied learning approach, led by industry practitioners, ensures we are prepared to “go out there and help our clients”. This focus on practical, real-world application has been crucial in developing my legal skills.
In addition to my studies, I completed over 70 hours of community service with the Pro Bono Law Society of Singapore, providing legal guidance to those in need. This experience reinforced my commitment to serving the less fortunate.
Balancing studies, full-time work, and co-parenting my 6-year-old daughter was challenging, but the flexibility of evening classes made it manageable. I also pursued Islamic studies at Pergas to better support Muslim clients, both legally and spiritually.
