Supervised Practicum (COU492)

Synopsis

The 180-hour supervised practicum comprises the following: 1. 100 hours of face-to-face client contact 2. 40 hours of case management (documentation, consultation and administrative responsibilities, etc.) 3. 40 hours of individual and group supervision Every student in the programme will be assigned an Individual Supervisor who will guide him/her along in the practicum. The evaluation by the Individual Supervisor will carry 50% of the overall grading of the Practicum. The student will also be assigned to a faculty member whose role as Group Supervisor entails monitoring and supervising his/her progress in the Practicum via group sessions held on campus. The evaluation by the Group Supervisor will carry 30% of the overall assessment. Students are also placed under the care of a Field Supervisor who is attached to their practicum site. The main responsibility of the Field Supervisor is to assign them cases and provide them with administrative support and guidance. The evaluation by the Field Supervisor comprises 20% of the overall Practicum assessment.
