Synopsis

CTI305 Financial Translation familiarizes students with the lexical, structural and stylistic features of financial documents and articles. It equips students with the necessary contextual knowledge in banking and financial sectors and develops their skills in translating financial analysis, prospectuses, annual reports, financial statements, and shareholders’ AGM meeting minutes. Through a comparative study of English and Chinese parallel financial and banking documents, students will be made aware of the operational and documentary conventions that exist in the source and the target country and learn to effectively deal with jargons, terminologies and figures. At the end of the course, students will demonstrate competence in translating financial documents with the style and usage specific to the field.
