Synopsis

ECC219 Phonetics Teaching and Practice in Early Childhood Chinese Language Education focuses on the theoretical foundations and practical applications of phonetics teaching in early childhood Chinese education. Students will learn about the pronunciation system of Mandarin, including pinyin, tones, and their significance in classroom instruction. The course covers effective phonetic teaching strategies, solutions for common pronunciation issues, and the design of interactive teaching activities. Students will gain the ability to design and implement phonetics teaching courses suitable for preschool children, addressing the language learning needs of children in Singapore’s multicultural context.
