Synopsis

ECE530 The Singapore Early Childhood Context, Policy Implementation and Change Management equips students with a macro-level view of the quality of childhood and early childhood education in Singapore, along with the educational, social, and healthcare policies that may impact childhood quality and early childhood education in Singapore. The students will also be able to examine the key factors that shape national policies on early childhood education. This purpose is to enable EC leaders to keep in view these macro-level perspectives and broader level factors as they implement policies within their own centres. They will discuss the Early Childhood Development Centres Act and educational policies such as bilingualism to deepen their understanding of these policies and better position them as policy implementers. Additionally, they will also identify moderators and facilitators of growth of the sector and formulate views on how the sector should be shaped. Leaders’ roles in policy implementation, theories on policy implementation and change management will also be discussed at length.
