Synopsis

ECE532 Designing and Leading a Quality Preschool Curriculum provides the macro perspective on curriculum development. Curriculum leaders need to be aware of the factors shaping their curriculum and the considerations that should go into developing it. These include research in neuroscience, psychology, early childhood education, global trends, Singapore’s sociocultural context, and the aspirations of parents, just to name a few. Theories on curriculum development will be discussed and applied to various curriculum frameworks adopted by EC communities locally and in other parts of the world. What constitutes a high-quality curriculum, curriculum implementation, and evaluation will also be discussed.
