Synopsis

This course aims to provide learners with the fundamental understanding of how Quality Assurance guides and supports cycles of improvement through systems thinking and innovation. The course covers exploration of the principles, concepts and practices related to overall centre quality, spanning from Strategic Planning, Staff Planning and Engagement to Curriculum and Pedagogies. It provides learners with the framework to understand the components that make up a quality childcare centre, and the ability to construct and test ideas, review and evaluate current systems and approaches that are practised in centres. The content of the course is conducted with reference to the Singapore Preschool Accreditation Framework (SPARK) and the accompanying Quality Rating Scale (QRS).

  • Use SWOT Analysis to perform internal and external scans that lead to the identification of the key strengths and areas of improvement according to SPARK criteria
  • Interpret the Quality Rating Scale (QRS) and relate this to teaching practices in the classroom
  • Apply and adapt the company's directions into actionable leadership, teaching and learning plans
  • Develop effective action plans and targets to address key challenges identified in the centre strategic plan
  • Implement the Plan-Implement-Evaluate (PIE) approach to appraise and monitor the centre quality
