PSI313 Restorative Justice Principles and Practices provides an alternative approach to crime prevention, crime control and conflict resolution. This course will highlight the principles of restorative justice and its effectiveness in the management of offenders. By examining the practices of restorative justice globally, this course will provide options to manage crime or conflict by involving all affected stakeholders and community partners to come together and seek resolution to the harm caused by the perpetrator. Restorative justice provides an opportunity for the perpetrator to repair the harm done to the victim and strengthen relationships with the affected stakeholders. By providing an alternative model to conflict resolution, students will be able to consider the possibilities of adapting restorative justice, its principles and practices in working with offenders, partners and other stakeholders.
