Clinical Placement 3

Clinical Placement 3 (PSY505)

Synopsis

As a follow-up to PSY504, PSY505 is the second external practicum that provides students the skills required to practise as clinical psychologists. Students will be placed in another partner organisation and will be required to use their knowledge and skills acquired from the previous practicum to work with different specialised client groups. Students will learn about the need for individualised psychological intervention and gain an appreciation for professional challenges of working within organisational resource constraints. Students will also have the opportunity to apply their knowledge and skills to work with various disciplines and manage the expectations of multiple stakeholders. In PSY505, students deliver psychological interventions and/or assessments to support clients and receive supervision and feedback from their on-site supervisors. This course will enhance students’ clinical competencies through real-world experience to deliver evidence-based psychological interventions to clients.
