Synopsis

PSY536 Health Psychology in Singapore provides a foundation of theories, concepts, and the practice of health psychology across the lifespan in Singapore. In this course, students will learn about the healthcare landscape and understand the intricacies of health psychology such as delivery of healthcare, doctor-patient communication, and how patients make medical decisions. Students will gain a broader understanding of how various allied health disciplines work together with medical professionals in healthcare institutions in Singapore. Through this course, students will learn how to identify the biopsychosocial factors that are central to health and well-being. Specific illnesses that are prevalent in the Singapore population and the complexity of etiology and progression will be further examined. Students will also learn about the various health behaviour change models and interventions to help patients improve overall health and well-being.
