Synopsis

This one-day executive workshop is tailored for leaders, board members, and management teams of charities and IPCs in Singapore. This workshop aims to inform and empower charity leaders to effectively implement and communicate their ESG initiatives, aligning with the Revised Code of Governance for Charities in Singapore.

  4. To apply techniques for effective ESG reporting and communication.
  5. To develop an action plan for implementing ESG principles.



A. Knowledge and Understanding (Theory Component)

By the end of this course, participants should be able to:

  • To apply strategies for sustainable operations, environmental stewardship, and stakeholder engagement in light of ESG-related challenges they face.
  • To analyse governance case studies and identify areas to improve transparency and ethical practices.
  • Be proficient in applying and integrating key frameworks in ESG considering the Charities’ Revised Code of Governance.

  • To implement approaches to conduct environmental impact assessment for charities.
  • To develop an ESG communication plan.

About the Trainers

CET185 - Dr Joanne Ho

Dr Joanne Ho

Dr. Joanne Ho is a Senior Lecturer in the School of Business Marketing Program. Her research focuses on the relationship between marketing strategy and business performance. She has taught courses such as sustainability marketing, customer insights and analytics, and marketing management. Since developing the course on sustainability marketing, she finds the topic of sustainability and ESG fascinating and continues to keep up with the latest developments in the field.

 

CET185 - Michael Tan

Michael Tan See Hai

Bachelor of Commerce and Administration majoring in Accountancy from Victoria University of Wellington; Executive Master of Business Administration from Helsinki School of Economics 2003, Singapore Management University Executive Development in Sustainability Strategies and Green Economy Programme


He is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Singapore Chartered Accountants and a member of the Singapore Institute of Directors.

Michael has worked as an auditor with an International Accounting firm as well as an Investment banker. He has also been the executive director of Singapore Association of the Visually Handicapped (SAVH) and executive director with Handicapps Welfare Association.

His volunteer experiences include President with SAVH, Hon Treasurer with SAVH, assisting Guide Dogs Association with Corporate Governance Issues etc.

We can only live together on one planet Earth so we have to protect it with love. Michael hopes we can all do this together and is passionate about such environmental and sustainability issues.

He is currently providing consultancy to SMEs in their ESG journey and risk management. He also assists Charities in their ESG journey.

Course Fee

Course Fee for $700

1 Mid-Career Enhanced Subsidy: Singaporeans aged 40 and above may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the course fees.
2 Enhanced Training Support for SMEs: SME-sponsored employees (Singaporean Citizens and PRs) aged 21 and above may enjoy subsidies up to 90% of the course fees.


  • Participants are required to achieve at least 75% attendance and pass any prescribed examinations/assessments or submit any course/project work (if any) under the course requirement.

  • Participants are required to complete all surveys and feedbacks related to the course.

  • The course fees are reviewed annually and may be revised. The University reserves the right to adjust the course fees without prior notice.

  • Singapore University of Social Sciences reserves the right to amend and/or revise the above schedule without prior notice.
