The Professional Certificate in Sustainable Development is a collaborative effort between the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and the Sustainable Energy Association of Singapore (SEAS). The programme aims to enhance the skills and core knowledge of individuals dedicated to sustainable development. This programme is designed to provide a deep understanding of current sustainability best practices, equipping professionals with a comprehensive skill set relevant to the field, aiming to extend community engagement and stakeholder relationships in the digital era.
The courses provided under this programme focus on key sustainability pillars such as carbon management, sustainability reporting, and renewable energy. They amalgamate a blend of theoretical insights and practical applications. Real-world case studies will be conducted with theoretical knowledge, culminating in a profound comprehension of effective sustainability strategies. Upon completion, learners will not only have achieved a professional certification but will also be equipped to make significant contributions to the field of sustainable development, driving positive change within their organizations and the broader community.
The program consists of three meticulously curated courses, two offered by SUSS and one from SEAS.
Please see the table below for the synopses of the courses.
S/N | Course | Synopsis |
---|
1 | Carbon Management – A Systematic Approach to Manage Greenhouse Gas Emissions (CET258)
| This course presents participants with a systematic approach for the quantification and management of greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions and provides examples of best practices for optimal carbon management and quantification. Participants will be guided on the details of assessing carbon footprint and delivering well-structured and complete carbon footprint reports in accordance with international standards. The course would provide participants with a comprehensive framework, embedded with practical examples, of how to conduct a carbon footprint assessment and design a carbon action plan. |
2 | Sustainability Reporting - Global Frameworks and Implementation Roadmap (CET259)
| Sustainability reporting has evolved in recent years from being an account of traditional corporate social responsibility (CSR) efforts to more holistic reporting which encapsulates environmental, social, and governance (ESG) themes. With the global push for sustainability reporting and the benefits that sustainability reporting brings to both investors and companies, many companies now prepare an annual sustainability report to describe the organisation’s sustainability practices with reference to ESG issues. Sustainability reporting also allows organisations to consider their risks and opportunities related to sustainability issues, and to make informed decisions to mitigate risk and explore opportunities for growth. This course seeks to provide practical guidance on the global frameworks for sustainability reporting and the implementation process, as well as key considerations for sustainability reporting.
