This award recognises and honours current Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) students who exemplify 'Heart' in our educational philosophy of 'Head, Heart and Habit'.
The people-oriented, prosocial values that we want to recognise and honour include honesty, integrity, commitment, resilience, moral courage, service to others, social change leadership, and selfless contribution to society.
Award winners are expected to demonstrate excellence in at least one of the following three categories of attributes: (a) character strength; (b) willingness to help others; and (c) social change leadership.
The SUSS Spirit Award is not open for self-nomination. Instead, we welcome nominations from students, faculty, staff, industry and community partners (e.g. those offering work attachments, community engagement opportunities etc.) working directly with our students.
Up to ten cash awards valued at S$2,500 each will be given for the academic year, subject to the quality of nominations. The award can be used to offset awardees' tuition fees.
Award winners are expected to fulfil responsibilities such as being SUSS ambassadors and volunteers at SUSS events.
