President's Welcome Message

Director's Welcome Message

Welcome to SUSS.

Congratulations on securing a place with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS)!

It's great that you have chosen SUSS (to be referred to as S-U-S-S instead of "suss") to pursue your higher education. As an SUSS freshman, Orientation is an important rite-of-passage to university life. It is often where you meet new friends and forge lifetime friendships.

Much as we would like to have you on campus to meet the faculty and your new university mates, we must put your safety and that of the university community as our top priority. In view of the current Stabilisation Phase of Transition to COVID-19 Resilience, we have revised our original plan of having some on-campus orientation activities this January. We will continue to welcome and orientate our freshmen online.

You will still get to meet your Dean and Head of Programme (HoP), albeit virtually. Your Dean will be addressing all freshmen to share the School's vision, the support available and expectations of students while your HoP will share the study roadmap for your programme and cover some important pointers for a smoother learning journey. There will also be briefings and demo-sessions on how to navigate important applications and portals that impact your learning. Examples include the online learning management system, Canvas - for discussions and assignments submission and Student Portal - for access to student information; and tips on making the best use of the Digital Library's e-resources. Although we are unable to welcome you in person for now, take this time to settle into learning online as e-learning is an important component of your study at SUSS.

Your seniors will also come on board to welcome you, chat with you and answer queries that you may have about your studies and student life at SUSS. Tap on their experience. Look out for our shout-outs and join these chat groups to meet new friends. There will be some fun online activities too.

When the COVID-19 situation stabilises, we look forward to reinstating more on campus classes and activities for students to reinforce the online friendships formed. Although the disruptions from this pandemic have been traumatic and far-reaching, let’s conquer this war with each of us doing our part. We are confident that we will come out stronger, together.

Let SUSS help you make your mark on progress, right from the start of your learning journey. Welcome aboard.

Warmest regards,
Evelyn Chong
