As we celebrate the achievements of startups, it is essential to spotlight the inspiring journey of Kai Ning, Founder of The Courage Chapter. Her startup does not only exemplify innovation but also reflects a deep commitment to harnessing the expertise of senior professionals. Through its impactful initiatives, The Courage Chapter is reshaping the landscape for seniors seeking purpose and flexibility in their careers.

Securing 1st place in the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) Venture Builder Demo Day 2024 and 2nd place at the SUSS Geronpreneurship Innovation Festival 2024 Ageing Startup Pitch Stadium, The Courage Chapter has solidified its role in connecting experienced professionals with meaningful projects.

The Courage Chapter Presented Award

The Courage Chapter presented cash prize award by Dr. Wu Chiaw Ching, President of The Ngee Ann Kongsi, and Dr Yap Meen Sheng, Assistant Provost of Singapore University of Social Sciences, for clinching first runner up in SUSS Geronpreneurship Innovation Festival 2024 Ageing Startup Pitch Stadium.

Kai Ning’s personal experience has significantly shaped her approach. In her youth, she witnessed the struggles of individuals close to her who faced challenges in finding meaningful employment as they aged. She realized that there is a disconnect between their abundant skills and the limited opportunities available to them.

The Courage Chapter operates as a One-Stop Talent Hub, bridging the gap between experienced seniors and organizations needing their expertise. By offering project-based and fractional consulting roles, the initiative not only helps companies fill skill gaps but also provides seniors with fulfilling and impactful work opportunities.

Kai Ning highlights that, in collaboration with industry partners, they aim to empower senior professionals by offering them greater control over their work choices, including when and how they work.

Kai Ning’s advice to people who are looking to start their own ventures, especially those aiming to address social issues is:

“Your empathy for society will ground you, your growth mindset will help you make breakthroughs and overcome challenges, and your grit will see you through. Just start, and you will find your tribe along the way that uplifts you in your pursuit to do good.”
