'SUSS gave me a chance from the start'
Starting out in an advertising agency when I joined SUSS, I saw many possibilities and opportunities in the communications field. I eventually chose to pursue a Bachelor of Communications, and ended up specialising in Digital Marketing during the course of my studies. The programme stood out to me, with the flexibility of being able to continue working while pursuing my degree.
Already having a full-time job in advertising, I struggled a lot balancing my time between meeting deadlines, studies, and family. However, despite my busy schedule, I was still determined to do well in my studies, staying up late or waking up early to catch up with lessons, and even missing a few family vacations to do so. Time flew past too quickly, watching my father ageing and niece grow up in a blink of an eye while I pursued my own goals. But I pushed through the hardships and eventually attained my aim to graduate in four years.
I remember the lecturers who understood my struggles and friendships forged and support given through my journey in SUSS and would now like to give back to the community, and join the AAAC. I believe that 'donating towards education is actually an investment in someone's future.'
'The inaugural AAAC committee was launched during covid-19 and the thought of part-time students going through similar situations like me was already hard enough... I wanted to pay it forward.'
'SUSS gave me a chance from the start.' My time at SUSS has contributed to my understanding of the phrase ‘it’s never too late to start’. Milestones in life are not always linear and everyone has their own pace and should not compare oneself to others.
