Interest Groups (IG) provide students with opportunities to initiate and lead projects as a means to encourage student involvement and strengthening student's sense of belonging through contributing to campus vibrancy. 

SUSS IGs serve to bring like-minded students together and pursue common interests that lead to purposeful learning, growth and development. 

Students who are keen to join an existing IG (outside of their recruitment cycles), please contact the IG leader through email or via their socials.

SUSS Interest Groups

Music Interest Group

Music Interest Group (MIG) is a platform for music appreciation within SUSS, allowing like-minded individuals who share the same passion for music to jam, record and perform together. With a diverse range of subgroups available, members have many opportunities to showcase their talents, regardless of their musical background.

Dance(X)

SUSS Dance(X) is a dance interest group encompassing different genres – K-Pop, Hip-Hop, and Contemporary. The IG aims to provide an encouraging and safe space for students from all walks of life, with or without prior experience, to grow and develop their abilities and self-identity as individuals and as a team.

  • Instructor-led and Student-led training sessions in Contemporary, Hip-Hop, K-pop genres

Production Interest Group

Production Interest Group (PDIG) aims to bring like-minded people who are interested in film-making and photography to learn, explore and be inspired in content creation without limits. The IG aims to provide students with opportunities to be part of media events, host media events and learn about the art of content creation.

ODA Interest Group

Outdoor Adventure Interest Group (ODAIG) aims to foster a spirit of adventure among the SUSS community through a variety of activities and certification programs designed to introduce or enhance their outdoor exposure. ODAIG organises activities including, but not limited to:

Skate Interest Group

SUSS Skate Interest Group is a recreational skating community, with a focus on inline and quad skates. The IG brings skaters together to develop a healthy and active student life in SUSS. It serves as an outlet for students to bond and develop leadership skills by imparting skating knowledge among peers.

Futsal Interest Group

SUSS Futsal Interest Group aims to promote Futsal as a recreational activity to be enjoyed by every SUSS students. The IG welcomes players of any gender and skill level and is committed to providing a safe environment for all to have fun and connect with new people.

Boxing Interest Group

SUSS Boxing Club aims to build an inclusive community for students who are keen on picking up authentic boxing and getting fit through a new sport. We believe that boxing need not be intimidating or exclusive to only those who wish to compete. With a friendly and inclusive atmosphere, we believe in building bonds through each session with classes catered to all individuals.

Apart from competing, boxing has the power to shape lives. Thus the club aims to create a fun environment for all students on campus and boxing gym through authentic boxing in meaningful ways.

AI Interest Group

Artificial Intelligence Interest Group (AI-IG) aims to promote the academic and social pursuits of the members, particularly in the study of matters pertaining to the field of Artificial Intelligence/Data Science, and/or other related fields. The AI-IG is a student chapter of AI Singapore (AISG).

Current Affairs Interest Group

Current Affairs Interest Group (CAIG) aims to promote intelligent discussions on the regional and international challenges faced by contemporary societies and explore possible management or resolutions through various activities.

  • Representation in Model United Nations (MUN)

  • Collaborations with other Universities and Interest Groups

SUSS Investment Interest Group (SIG) was established in 2017 and caters to students with interests in finance and investment. The IG aims to impart financial and investment knowledge in SUSS students.

Cross-Cultural Immersion Interest Group

SUSS Cross-Cultural Immersion Interest Group (CCIIG) aims to promote cultural inclusiveness and exchanges within the SUSS student body, and to potentially garner their interest in venturing overseas amongst the University community. In addition, we hope to contribute to a vibrant and inclusive culture through sharing cross-cultural knowledge amongst the student body in the University.

FAQs

Students may be involved in SUSS Interest Groups (IGs) or Competition Groups (CGs).

IGs provide students with the opportunities to experience a vibrant student life and develop a stronger sense of belong. Students will get to meet like-minded peers and hone common interests that lead to purposeful learning, growth, and element.

CGs provide students with opportunities to participate in varsity, national and international competitions to enhance their college experience.

Students may also initiate and lead campus projects to promote campus life within the SUSS community. Funding support is available for eligible projects.

Please visit this site to find out more on the IG guidelines and how you can go about setting up an IG in SUSS. 

After you have submitted the application form to Student Life, a mentor will be assigned to guide you (and your team) along on how to improve on the proposal and start the IG.

If you have any further enquiries, please reach out and we will direct you to the relevant staff in charge.

If you belong to Student Life (STL) endorsed student group, please check with your staff mentor on the process of making a booking request for seminar rooms. 

Do take note of the following:

  • Please submit booking requests are submitted at least 4 working days in advance, any last-minute bookings will not be entertained.
  • No bookings are allowed on public holidays or SUSS Shutdown Days.
  • Allocation of seminar rooms is subjected to availability.
