Explore Age+ Living Lab: Where Confident Ageing in Place begins

Age+ Living Lab is more than just a community initiative – it's a commitment to creating a better future for all. As a SUSS-led community-based initiative, we are committed to supporting national initiatives such as Age Well SG and the 2023 Action Plan for Successful Ageing.

According to World Health Organization (WHO), being able to live in environments that support and maintain one’s intrinsic capacity and functional ability is a key to healthy ageing.

Intrinsic Capacity (IC) is a combination of an individual’s physical and mental capacities. Functional Ability (FA) is a combination of an individual’s intrinsic capacity, the environment a person lives in and how he/she reacts with their environment.

By being aware of one’s declines in intrinsic capacity and having the knowledge to choose and learn how to use gerontechnology appropriately, one can intervene to slow, stop, or reverse the declines.

Integrated Care for Older People (ICOPE) is a community-based approach towards person-centred health and social care to optimise the functional ability of older people.

A PUBLIC-HEALTH FRAMEWORK FOR HEALTHY AGEING: OPPORTUNITIES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH ACTION ACROSS THE LIFE COURSE

Gerontechnology products can be enablers for confident ageing in place and reduce the burden on caregivers. By maintaining mobility, vitality, hearing, vision, cognitive skills, and mental health capacities, seniors are empowered to take charge of their lives, continue contributing to the community, and stay connected to society and their loved ones. This leads to a positive enhancement in the quality of life.

Our vision is to partner with more agencies and organisations to co-create more Age+ Living Labs in different parts of Singapore. We believe this partnership model can promote ageing in place and align with the national Age Well program.

About Age+ Living Lab

The Age+ Living Lab is a testament to SUSS’s commitment and dedication to building the capability and confidence of seniors and caregivers, enabling them to age in place and thrive in their homes and communities with the help of gerontechnology products and technology. This aligns with SUSS's larger mission to promote social good by integrating engaged research, services, and teaching within the community.

The Living Lab serves as a platform for experiential learning activities and tours, allowing seniors, caregivers, and the public to explore and gain a deeper understanding of gerontechnology products. The display content in the living lab will continue to be refreshed regularly, supporting the evolving needs of our ageing population and lifelong learning.

For a start, we've curated products and solutions that focus on four essential aspects of daily living: medical (医), dining (食), living (住), and mobility (行). These displays are carefully selected to inspire ideas on how living spaces can be equipped and furnished to maintain and improve seniors’ quality of life, while also easing the burden on caregivers by promoting independence.

We welcome feedback from the community to help us continuously innovate the content and displays in this one-stop 'live' lab, offering new solutions to meet the evolving needs of our ageing population. Download our brochure for more information.

At Age+ Living Lab, we believe that everyone can Age Better with Age+.
