On 12 December 2020, 29 SUSS students participated in a creative pottery workshop organised by the Student Events Team. This is the 2nd instalment of the craft event series that SUSS intends to organise for students in the long run. The workshop was conducted by instructors, Stella and Jasmine, from Thow Kwang Pottery Jungle.
The workshop commenced with a live demonstration by Jasmine on how to mould the clay into various shapes. She emphasised on a few important things to take note, such as how to score the edges of the clay that one is going to combine with another piece of clay and also to paint the clay first before one draws their design on it etc. All participants were then handed a set of clay, crafting tools, paints and paintbrushes.
We could see the serious faces of the students as they started to work on their masterpieces. Some students were really creative and moulded intricate designs out of the clay! We saw many different items that were made, including cups, bowls, key holders and other common household items.
The 2 hours of the Creative Pottery Workshop flew past in the blink of an eye. Looking at the happy faces of the students at the end of the workshop, we can tell that it was definitely a fun and memorable experience for everyone!
