15 students attended a "Learning All Things French" workshop held via Zoom on 20 August, evening.
The French trainer Sebastian Rubio, a full time French teacher at French Toast Language Centre, gave a history lesson on the historic figures and some landmarks of France. He also touched on his favourite topic of French cuisine which included some interesting facts about champagne. He further shared some quirky information such as French fries not having originated in France, but is from Belgium instead, and also a law forbidding kissing on the train stations!
The workshop participants who were initially shy about engaging with the trainer, opened up when each of them were asked to say a few phrases in French. The students were introduced common greetings and also how to introduce themselves and say their nationalities. They also learned how to count from 1 to 10. Interestingly, Sebastian shared that the French language has feminine and masculine words.
One student indicated that he "thoroughly e"enjoyable and interesting".
After a good 2 hours, the group ended with a group photo, said "merci" (thank you) to their trainer and bid "au revoir" (good bye) to each other.
