The 20th Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Symposium (PROMS2025)

We are pleased to announce that the 20th PROMS will be held at the Singapore University of Social Sciences, Singapore, with a day of pre-conference workshops on July 21, 2025, preceding the main conference from July 22 to 23, 2025.

The Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Symposium (PROMS) is an annual professional meeting of the Pacific Rim Objective Measurement Society (also PROMS). PROMS was established in 2005 to promote objective measurement and contribute to the research and development of Rasch measurement in the Pacific Rim. The symposium consists of a conference and associated workshops for the sharing of knowledge and applications of the Rasch model with the international community.

Theme: Next Generation Measurement: When Innovation Meets Objectivity

The theme of the 20th PROMS is Next Generation Measurement: When Innovation Meets Objectivity”. The theme emphasises our commitment to objectivity or invariance in the field in response to cutting-edge advancements and emerging technologies that reshape how we collect, analyse and interpret data. This theme invites a critical examination of the ways innovation can enhance precision, accuracy and fairness in measurement practices across diverse disciplines. The 20th PROMS will serve as a platform for experts, researchers and practitioners to share insights and best practices, fostering dialogue on the future of measurement that is both forward thinking and ethically grounded.

We invite submissions from any field across human sciences, including business, education, health and psychology. These could include research applying the Rasch model, discussing advances in the practice of measurement, or reviewing modern measurement theory. Topics of submission may include, but are not limited to:

  • Integrating Rasch measurement with AI
  • Using Rasch for personalised learning and feedback
  • Advances in Rasch modelling
  • Advances in the practice of measurement
  • Issues relating to modern measurement theory
  • Technical issues of the application of Rasch model
  • Measurement for advancing scientific fields
  • Measurement across cultures
  • Measurement of soft skills and competencies
  • Measurement technology
  • Questionnaire and test development
  • Rater-mediated assessment
  • Fairness of using assessment to make decisions
  • Assessing language skills

Stay tuned for upcoming details, including important dates, submission guidelines and registration deadlines. Don’t miss this opportunity to be at the forefront of the next generation measurement!
