For the first-time ever, we hosted the inaugural Student Leaders’ Appreciation Night for over 300 outstanding student leaders to celebrate their contributions in bringing vibrancy and community spirit to the student community.
A dazzling start to the Student Leaders’ Appreciation Night.
On this special night, multiple awards were handed out to exemplary students who embodied commendable traits.
First, the Advocacy Award was presented to students in Advocacy Groups (AG) whose contributions in supporting the student community were strongly felt and appreciated by their peers. These students exemplified deep passion and compassion for freshmen, international students, students with special needs and students who required emotional support.

One of the Advocacy Award winners, Bhakti Choudhary, SUSS Year 4 Marketing student and 1SUSS Marketing Head, commented, “This award is not just a recognition of my efforts, but a celebration of the collaborative spirit with my peers at 1SUSS – Community of Student Voices that defines our community.”

Next, the Resilience Award was given to our student athletes for their participation in various 2023 Asian University Games (AUG) and the Singapore University Games (SUniG). These recipients demonstrated remarkable strength, determination and perseverance in leading their Competition Groups (CGs).

Additionally, the Inspiration Award recognised athletes who inspired and motivated others through their actions, achievements or leadership. These awardees served as role models, mentors, or sources of inspiration for those around them. Their positive influence encouraged others to excel, innovate or make a positive impact in their own lives.
Award recipient Jonathan Ang, SUSS Year 4 Counselling student and a member of Dragonboat CG, is just one of the two student athletes in their 40s. Jonathan has set an example that age is just a number and not a limiting factor, as he juggles his studies and his involvement in Dragonboat CG.

As the university celebrates and encourages students to leverage its platforms to provide learning opportunities for their fellow peers, we hope that the exemplary attributes inspire more students to pursue their passion, challenge their limits and bring SUSS to greater heights.
