The Circuit Breaker measures which saw Singaporeans staying at home did not stop SUSS from organising the first online Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Demo Day! During the live event on 27 May 2020, ConnectUpz bagged the top spot at the first online Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Demo Day, where he walked away with a prize of USD$5,000 Alibaba Cloud Credits and a goodie bag.
Founded by Vijay Dylan Kumar, ConnectUpz is a mobile app which reads all types of barcodes and QR codes, and then automatically sends customised promotion alerts to customers. Vying against ConnectUpz was Learngram, and Swapie, who took the second and third prizes, respectively.
This was the first time that we opened our virtual doors to welcome more than 500 participants on Zoom and saw over 2,000 views on Facebook where the online Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Demo Day was streamed live.
With the annual pitching event held completely online, guests visited virtual booths where they could interact and network with start-ups from the programme while showing their support through “Likes” and “Shares” on Social Media.
Other than our programme partner, Alibaba Cloud Singapore, investors from Spaze Ventures, AngelCentral, Quest Ventures and Golden Gate Ventures were also present to grace the event with their insights and valuable feedback to the pitching start-ups.
In case you missed it, catch the excitement of the live pitch on SUSS’s Facebook page here.
Two of our start-ups also graduated with a Minor/Certificate from Alibaba Cloud-SUSS Entrepreneurship Programme. Congratulations to our graduates below!
