Kenneth Yap, a full-time Year Four Finance student won the inaugural Alibaba ASEAN Chongqing Create@Alibaba Cloud Startup Contest (CACSC) 2018. It is the largest international startup competition held by the Alibaba Group for innovators from the technology field. Kenneth was awarded 50,000 USD worth of Alibaba cloud credits and a grant amount of 50,000 SGD from Enterprise Singapore for the development of his startup, HEYCOINS. He will be taking part in the upcoming World Final held in China where he will get to meet venture capitalists and top-level partners from around the world.
Kenneth joined hands with the founder of HEYCOINS, Eddie from Lingnan University, at the National Youth Leadership Conference held at Washington DC during their undergraduate course studies. They connected immediately and had a strong vision for the future of Asian economy. They both had a similar goal to improve the cash flow system in the region and eliminate the inconvenience of coins. HEYCOINS is now a kiosk network that digitises coins to use it for various purposes such as top-up of e-wallets, gift coupons and for donations made to charitable organisations.
