Another milestone achieved by SUSS Supply Chain Management Studies
The Bachelor's Degree in Logistics and Supply Chain Management (SCM) students from SUSS have demonstrated their expertise once again! The team, known as Trio Amigos (comprising leader Javier Gan Kuan Qi and team members Kaleo Mak Kai Long and See Keng Suan) achieved an impressive accomplishment by securing the 1st Runner-up position in the 4th edition of the MaritimeONE Case Summit 2023.
This competition was organised by the MaritimeONE Connect Office, a division of the Singapore Maritime Foundation (SMF) and sponsored by CMA CGM, Rio Tinto and Swire Build/Swire Shipping who provided the case challenge statements that attracted 155 students from 49 teams to participate.
SUSS SCM Students Won 1st Runner-up in MaritimeONE Singapore Case Summit’23
The journey of Trio Amigos started when they were presented with a challenge statement by one of their three sponsors, CMA CGM. The Trio Amigos’ solution centred around a Digital Twin (DT) and they delved into thorough research on various aspects of DT application and used their creativity to produce a podcast-style video presentation for the competition.
Their solution and ingenuity propelled them to the final top nine teams and they were motivated to persevere through to the next phase.
The finalists met with the CMA CGM management to better understand the business needs and further refine their presentation. The team received guidance from their SUSS faculty, Professor Wang Yuan, a Senior Lecturer with expertise in Design Thinking. Professor Wang also provided valuable advice on enhancing their presentation skills, which played a crucial role in helping them secure the 1st Runner-up position in the CMA CGM case challenge.
On April 5th, 2023, the awards ceremony took place at the PARKROYAL on Beach Road. The event was honoured by the presence of the Senior Minister of State for Transport, Mr Chee Hong Tat, who presented the trophies to the winners and praised them for their potential in the future of the Maritime sector. Professor Wang Yuan, SUSS Career Development Office team members Ms Sarah Neo and Ms Helen Khek, and members of the Supply Chain Interest Group (SCIG) were also there to celebrate the team’s success. The occasion was a joyous celebration of the triumphant winners and their accomplishments.
