In a spectacular showcase of dedication and accomplishment, the recent Faculty Appreciation Event (FAE) 2023 left an indelible mark on both SUSS and its attendees. Held on 19 August 2023, the event was a harmonious blend of recognition, celebration, and gratitude, as award winners were heralded for their exceptional contributions to academia at the Swissôtel The Stamford. Distinguished faculty members and guests gathered to honour the recipients who had demonstrated exemplary commitment and contributions in their respective fields.
The event's opening address, delivered by Professor Tan Tai Yong, SUSS President, conveyed the institution's appreciation for its faculty members' dedication and transformative impact. This heartfelt welcome laid the foundation for the evening's festivities, reminding everyone of the collective mission that they share. This event was also graced by Mrs Mildred Tan, Chairman of SUSS Board of Trustees, emphasising the significance of the occasion.
Professor Robbie Goh, SUSS Provost, further intensified the atmosphere of enthusiasm by alluding the formal lunch to being like “a Grammy of sorts for SUSS’ Associate and full-time Faculty members.”

First organised a decade ago, the FAE is an annual event organised by the Teaching & Learning Centre (TLC) to recognise the efforts of deserving faculty members and associates, and to show appreciation to the SUSS teaching fraternity. Hence, the heart of the event was undoubtedly the awards ceremony itself. This year, a new award, the Special Award in Innovative Pedagogy, was launched to recognise effective and novel pedagogical practices that faculty and associates have introduced in their classrooms. Apart from this new award, the other award categories in the table below showcase the diverse ways associates and faculty members contribute to the institution's growth:

The success of the Faculty Appreciation Awards event was a reflection of SUSS’ commitment to fostering an environment of appreciation, growth, and collaboration. By recognising the efforts of its faculty members, SUSS not only celebrated individual achievements but also reinforced its dedication to nurturing academic excellence. This event encapsulated the power of acknowledgment – a reminder that a simple 'thank you' can be a catalyst for transformative change, and that the dedication of faculty members is a cornerstone upon which education's future is built.
