With the advent of the post-pandemic era, the SUSS Doctor of Business Administration (DBA) programme held its first overseas immersion course in Beijing. The participation reached a record high and injected renewed energy into the DBA programme. Besides the regular DBA courses, the itinerary featured a two-day corporate visit programme covering some outstanding technology and internet companies in Beijing, such as 4Paradigm, Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D Group, and Perfect World.
DBA's corporate visit to 4Paradigm Company
The first stop on the DBA's corporate visit itinerary was 4Paradigm Company. As a trailblazer and leader in the enterprise-level artificial intelligence (AI) field, 4Paradigm’s core concept is "AI Decision-Making, a New Paradigm for Business Transformation." Having developed end-to-end enterprise-level AI products, they specialise in providing platform-centric AI solutions. Focusing on addressing the efficiency, cost, and value challenges enterprises face in their journey towards intelligent transformation, the company maintains a leading position in the current Chinese market.

Mr Yu Hui, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer of 4Paradigm, delivered an insightful presentation for DBA students. With 15 years of experience in digital transformation and marketing, Mr Yu is also an invited lecturer at several renowned academic institutions. His presentation primarily focused on the pivotal role of digital transformation in enterprises, showcasing how 4Paradigm contributes to the digital transformation growth of over 100 Fortune 500 companies. He shared successful case studies in finance, retail, manufacturing, energy and power, telecommunications, and healthcare, illustrating the widespread application of artificial intelligence across various industries. He also introduced the evolution of AIGC (AI-generated content), emphasising the flexible application of AI technology in different scenarios and industries.
DBA's corporate visit to Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D Group
Microsoft Asia-Pacific R&D Group was the second destination for the DBA students to explore the path of AI and innovation. In a session titled "Microsoft AI Empowering Enterprise Innovation," Wang Xin, a Senior Technical Strategy Expert at Microsoft, delivered an in-depth presentation on "Leading Enterprise Innovation with Cloud Intelligence." Additionally, Duan Xudong, the Senior Product Marketing Manager for Microsoft 365 in the Greater China region, showcased how AI empowers Microsoft 365 software, demonstrating how cutting-edge technology redefines productivity.
DBA's corporate visit to Perfect World Company
The trip concluded with a visit to Perfect World Company, an enterprise centred around gamified thinking. Bian Jiang, the Executive Director of Perfect Education and a student from DBA Class 3, personally introduced the development history of Perfect World Company Holdings Group. He showcased the company's outstanding achievements in the gaming industry and digital creative field to fellow students.

Wang Yuyun, Senior Vice President and Chief Spokesperson of Perfect World, Chairman of Perfect World Education, and Researcher at Taihe Institute, also delivered a lecture on "Gamified Thinking." She delved into the application of this concept in business and management. Through gamified thinking, Perfect World continually drives industry innovation, showcasing how enterprises in the digital age can achieve breakthroughs through the fusion of creativity and technology.
DBA Students' Finale Dinner
In conclusion, DBA students explored cutting-edge technology and innovation through a programme focusing on AI, data-driven breakthroughs, emerging technology threats or opportunities, and R&D in uncertain environments. Case studies from 4Paradigm and Perfect World provided practical examples of applying innovative thinking and tech solutions for differentiation. Face-to-face interactions with industry leaders deepened their understanding of tech innovation and future trends. Overall, this complemented theoretical knowledge, offering hands-on experience in corporate innovation and expanding their cognitive boundaries. They gained more profound insights into AI applications across industries and critical success factors for digital transformation.
