Breaking out of the traditional classroom settings, students from the third intake of the SUSS Executive Management Programme (EMP) learned through real-life experiences during their site visit to the Model Factory @ SIMTech located at the A*Star’s Manufacturing Control Tower on Jul 19.
The EMP participants had the opportunity to immerse themselves in a live demonstration of operation systems covering various aspects of business operations, including predictive enterprise, timely supply chain and logistics, worry-free shop floor, and eco-efficient resource management.
The site visit to the Model Factory provided the EMP participants with more knowledge to experiment with advanced manufacturing technologies and initiate innovative solutions.
The participants also had the chance to learn about the benefits of the operation systems. One of the systems, the Overall Equipment Effectiveness Monitoring System (OEEMS), will help companies to maximize their machine utilization by providing overall factory visibility on machine status, stoppages, job status and OEE analysis to find ways to minimize downtime continuously. With this, productivity is expected to increase by 30-70%.
In September, EMP participants will be visiting Nanjing and Suzhou on a study trip to gain experiences and explore potential business opportunities in China.
The EMP aims to equip managing directors and C-suite executives from small and medium enterprises in Singapore with contemporary knowledge that will benefit their businesses to thrive in a rapidly changing world.
Prof Lee Pui Mun, Dean, School of Business, SUSS, presenting a token of appreciation to Mr Wang Yi , Factory Manager, Model Factory @ SIMTech
