Experiencing Korea: A Lively Cultural Appreciation Event at SUSS

Cross-Cultural Immersion Interest Group (CCI-IG) held a lively Korean Cultural Appreciation Event in its first collaboration with SUSS Dance Interest Group’s K-Pop Dance Crew, delving deep via rich and vicarious immersion into the world of Modern Korea.

Participants enjoyed lively Korean icebreaker games, a Dalgona Candy-crafting contest inspired by the globally renowned “Squid Game” series, an insightful and fun sharing from OWS Seniors who had studied abroad in Korea, and a zestful Kpop Dance Session by Dance Interest Group’s K-Pop Dance Crew.

The fun experience and insights gained added vibrancy to the process of cross-cultural appreciation and understanding across the student body. They inspired some students to consider attending OWS Programmes in Korea.

Low Chih Yu, a SUSS Human Resource Management Year 2 Student, shared, “The cultural appreciation event was both insightful and fun! Games like the Nunchi Game (눈치게임), APT (아파트), and the Dalgona Challenge (뽑기) gave us a glimpse into Korean culture and there were great icebreakers. My seniors shared valuable tips about summer school, and we wrapped up a lively dance to Jungkook's popular song "3D.".

Brian Ong Jun Heng, SUSS Finance Year 1 Student, fully agreed, “I believe the Korean Cultural Appreciation event was one of the best cultural events I attended during university. It was a compact and immersive cultural event providing us insights into the life of studying abroad in Korea together with traditional Korean games and a lesson on K-pop Dance moves. Overall, it was a unique, fun and unforgettable experience.”.
