On 6 September 2024, 20 impactful student films were screened at Projector X Cineleisure, highlighting societal needs and the changemakers who address them. Attendees included students’ families, friends and fellow students, creating a vibrant and supportive audience.
Captivated audience at the short film screening, witnessing powerful stories of social good unfold.
Digital Media students enrolled in MTD301, "Introduction to Audio and Video Production," explored the theme of "Social Good" for their final assignment in July 2023. Working in groups, they created compelling social documentaries, capturing the stories of Singaporeans supporting each other during difficult times. This project not only honed their technical skills but also integrated service-learning, allowing students to give voice to underrepresented communities.
Cheerful prize winners and professors celebrate their incredible achievements in impactful filmmaking.
Travis See Toh Hong, an SUSS MTD301 student, highlighted, “The screening was extremely helpful as we are able to see other students’ work on the big screen, motivating us to produce a better film that we can be proud of when it is our turn.” Feeling inspired, Kannan S/O Ramah Raja, an SUSS student, felt inspired, “The documentaries did not merely raise awareness about the featured organisations, but also resonated with me on an emotional level. Hence, I am motivated to achieve the same effect with my team, when producing our documentary.”
Mr Ho Han Peng emphasises the profound impact these student films have on our society.
Awards were presented to the top films, with Joey Tan Pei San’s Guardians of the Lonely Departed winning second prize. Joey expressed gratitude for achieving her dream of seeing her work on the big screen.
