SUSS Patron and President of Singapore, Halimah Yacob, and Guest-of-Honour Indranee Rajah, Minister, Prime Minister's Office, Second Minister for Finance and Second Minister for National Development, gracing the Class of 2020 Convocation ceremony. Finally after a half-a-year wait, our graduates from the Class of 2020 celebrated their Convocation in spite of all the challenges they had braved due to the pandemic fallout! Living in the new normal, we brought this significant occasion online – across 18 micro hybrid sessions from 29 April to 6 May 2021 – under increased safety standards and measures.
With a 250-person cap per session, a grand attendance of 3,702 graduates and guests participated in the ceremony. Even before the physical ceremonies commenced, digital thank-you notes and videos streamed in to celebrate the Class of 2020 and recognise our graduates’ and staff’s hard work and resilience in pulling off an extraordinary 2020. Families and friends of our graduates also tuned in to the live-streamed sessions virtually, offering their well-wishes and thoughts.
SUSS President, Professor Cheong Hee Kiat, School Deans, as well as school representatives, took turns to deliver their congratulatory messages to the graduates, followed by a heartwarming moment for them to express their gratitude to their loved ones at the end of the sessions.
This special event also culminated with a special postlude video of the SUSS song, presented by the SUSS Music Interest Group, together with the staff of SUSS and graduates. This ceremony is definitely one to look back on as it reminds us of the strengths, tenacity and hard work that our graduates, faculty and staff had demonstrated throughout such unprecedented times.
Congratulations, once again, to our Class of 2020!
