MECE Beijing Study Trip 2024 学前教育专业硕士课程北京学习之旅

26 SUSS students from the Master of Education in Early Childhood Education Programme (MECE) went on a study trip to Beijing spearheaded by Associate Professor Sin Joo Ee, Head of SUSS’ Master and Bachelor of Education in Early Childhood Education (Chinese).

The group attended the 2024 Study of Early Education and Development (SEED) Conference organised by the Institute of Early Childhood Education of the Faculty of Education, Beijing Normal University and Beijing Normal University Publishing Group. With support from the Sino-Finnish Joint Learning Innovation Institute, the conference aimed to harness global expertise to drive the reform and innovation of early childhood education. 2 SUSS Associate Faculty and 6 MECE students delivered presentations at the conference on the theme of Innovation and Empowerment: High-quality Play, Curriculum and Early Learning.

In addition, the group visited Beijing Liuyi Kindergarten and the Beijing Normal University Experimental Kindergarten, where they engaged in exchanges and interactions with local teachers and students. They also visited the Exhibition Hall of Beijing Normal University, experiencing the profound cultural heritage of the university.

The 26 MECE students also participated in their thesis proposal defense during this trip, and all successfully passed.

Tian Zengmei, an SUSS MECE Year 3 student, remarked, " We will bring the valuable experiences from Beijing back to Singapore and contribute to the development of early childhood education in Singapore."
