Meet Nathan Wang, a Year 4 SUSS Accountancy student who applied his skills by assisting a community organisation, Ground-up Innovation Labs for Development (GUILD), to increase their organisational efficiency.
His journey with GUILD started as a facilitator, where he helped to run programming and animation workshops for primary and secondary school students. Gradually, he became more involved in work behind the scenes, analysing data and setting up a basic accounting system for the company.
Now, Nathan has become part of GUILD’s core team and joins in their business strategy meetings. His skills and knowledge in accountancy lends a different perspective to the team, providing inputs on how to improve their internal processes.
The organisation’s innovative culture encourages Nathan to provide suggestions and new ideas. Being able to influence the organisation’s thought processes, practices and strategies, allows him to demonstrate his value and learn from the other members of the GUILD team. His experience has helped him to build a strategic mindset while building his network.
