2019 was a great year for our 183 student athletes who competed in the 2019 Singapore University Games (SUniG)! The SUSS Football Women team raised the SUSS flag high as they defended their overall third position for two years in a row. They will be heading on to compete in the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games (IVP Games) in January 2020!
SUSS captain, Nadya Zah, shared: “It was a humbling experience for our SUSS Women’s team as the team is only going into our second year together and I hope their fighting spirit and resilience will always be the drive for this team in the years to come.”
The SUSS Volleyball Women, Basketball Men, Swimming, Track & Field and Bowling team will also be competing in the IVP Games in 2020.
In 2019, our athletes competed in nine sports and was the second year that SUSS has competed. The annual games was conceptualised as a competition for university students from NUS, NTU, SMU, SIT, SUTD, SIM and SUSS to get together to foster goodwill and friendship through sports.
The top four from each sport category in SUniG will then progress to another league – the Institute-Varsity-Polytechnic Games (IVP Games). In the IVP Games, the SUniG teams will compete against the polytechnic and ITE teams, and is usually held in January of the following year.
