On 10 June 2022, SUSS, together with The Logistics Academy (TLA)1 , signed a tripartite Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with India’s TT Logistics Skill Development Private Ltd (TT SKILL) to offer courses on logistics and supply chain management to industry practitioners in India.

This MOU is the culmination of the government-to-government initiative facilitated by India’s Ministry of Civil Aviation and Singapore’s Ministry of Trade and Industry through its Singapore-India Partnership Office (SIPO) that began in August 2021.

Under the MOU, SUSS and TLA will jointly develop and deliver three courses on logistics and supply chain management exclusively tailored for the aviation industry, in association with Rajiv Gandhi National Aviation University (RGNAU)3 and TT SKILL. These courses include Time-Sensitive Cargo Management, Cold Chain Management and Dangerous Goods Management. The students will also need to complete the course assessment conducted by SUSS and TLA to be eligible for certification.

Mr Arun Vasu, Chairman of TT Group said, “TT SKILL is an educational initiative of TT Group. It is in a way our contribution towards the development of the logistics community, through focusing on the pain points where skills are lacking right now. One such pain point for the Indian logistics industry is the poor quality of knowledge. We often learn more when we are on the job than in the classroom. There is a curriculum and there are professors teaching it but the uniqueness of this programme is that the participants will have the opportunity to learn from working with a freight forwarder or trucking company or an airline before they are certified."

Professor Robbie Goh, SUSS Provost, shared, “SUSS has been driving adult education in Singapore with an applied orientation that is geared towards addressing industry growth needs. Our faculty, who are also industry leaders and practitioners, ensure the continuous relevance of our programme and course content, thus preparing our students for employment and changes to industry. This tripartite partnership will help enhance our leadership in training logistics and supply chain practitioners from Singapore, India and beyond."

“This India-Singapore training collaboration aims to enhance the skills training of new age employment in India to be more industry relevant. The Logistics Academy (TLA), a fully subsidiary arm of the Singapore Logistics Association (SLA) – a national trade association for logistics industry, is excited to lend its logistics expertise in this area of training partnership. Together with its panel of industry practitioners, the Academy will impact not only the knowledge but hands-on industry experiences to the Indian participants,” shared Mr. Thomas Sim, TLA Director and SLA Council Member and Chairman, Human Capital Development Committee.
