With a common goal to support and promote Intellectual Property (IP) and Business amongst professionals in Singapore, the region and beyond, SUSS and the World Intellectual Property Office (WIPO) entered into a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 1 March 2023.
Martha Chikowore (Acting Head, Academic Institutions and Executive Program, WIPO Academy), announcing the collaboration between SUSS and WIPO on the Master of IP and Innovation Management (IP Business) programme.
Under the SUSS School of Business, the Master of IP and Innovation Management (IP Business) aims to equip students with practical and hands-on understanding to use IP strategically to help businesses create value, generate new revenue streams and shape business success. The one-year programme will contain a distance learning as well as a residential phase at SUSS in Singapore, with ten scholarships available from SUSS and WIPO for eligible candidates.
Associate Professor Allan Chia, Dean, SUSS School of Business, said, “SUSS is proud to partner with WIPO to jointly offer this Master’s Degree Programme on Intellectual Property and Innovation Management (IP Business). The SUSS School of Business has worked with the Intellectual Property Office of Singapore (IPOS) and has offered graduate-level programmes and courses in IP management, IP technology and patent agency since 2017. We firmly believe that, together with the WIPO Academy, we are strategically placed to extend IP education to the region and beyond and help build human capacity in IP and business for individuals and organisations in these countries.”
Mr Sherif Saadallah, Executive Director, WIPO Academy said, “The WIPO-SUSS Master’s Degree Program in IP and Business endeavours to meet the growing needs of entrepreneurs, SMEs, budding professionals and graduates to address global challenges and the requirements of rapidly growing innovation-based economies. WIPO sees this as an opportunity to accomplish our goals as an international organisation and expand our horizons into educational programmes, which are skills-based in IP and business. This programme seeks to inculcate business, creativity, innovation, management and skills development into its graduates, to complement their strong academic and professional experience to positively impact their lives and those of many others."
