To mark the recognition of SUSS’ contribution to the community for the varied projects which promoted close collaborations with People’s Association (PA), SUSS was presented the Community Spirit Award (Merit) at the presentation ceremony for the first time in September 2022!

Over the past two years, SUSS had supported the virtual Chingay Watch Party, Chinese New Year Meals on Wheels for rental flats in a few community precincts, Impact Startup Challenge (Gerontology Track) with Southwest CDC, East Coast KCC interview with older persons, and educating seniors on e-Commerce to improve their digital literacy. The Gerontology programme team from SUSS’ S R Nathan School of Human Development (NSHD) including faculty, students and alumni had worked closely with the community and partners to achieve this accolade.

Some of the significant programmes include the #Stayhome Webinar Series to keep our seniors engaged with relatable content. SUSS also helped conduct workshops for our PA Trainers to equip them with the necessary skills in engaging senior participants. SUSS Gerontology programme strives to continue helping older persons through projects such as the Queenstown Health District, Selective En bloc Redevelopment Scheme (SERS) in Toa Payoh with our students, alumni and partners.
